Capybaras shine in effectively managing and applying the resources at hand. They keep a mental map of their territory including places to eat, relax, and flee. Their carefully regulated grazing patterns help to prevent overuse of any one region so enabling the regeneration of vegetation. When needed, they also follow seasonal migration patterns, travelling to other regions when resource availability alters. Their capacity to make use of both land and aquatic vegetation allows them to find food supplies many other herbivores cannot access.
